About WattToAmp.com
WattToAmp.com was built to give homeowners, electricians, RV owners, and hobbyists a fast, accurate way to convert watts to amps, without wading through confusing textbooks or unreliable online tools.
Our calculator supports DC circuits (batteries, solar, automotive), AC single-phase circuits (standard US 120V/240V household power), and AC three-phase circuits (commercial and industrial 208V/480V power). Every calculation uses the precise mathematical constant √3 rather than a rounded approximation, and every breaker and wire gauge recommendation is based on NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code (NEC), specifically Article 210.20 for the 80% continuous load rule and Table 310.15(B)(16) for copper conductor ampacity.
We built this site because we noticed most watt-to-amp calculators online either get the three-phase math wrong, ignore the NEC 80% continuous load rule entirely, or bury the answer under advertising. WattToAmp.com aims to be the fastest, most accurate, and most transparent tool available.
Our Commitment to Accuracy
Every formula on this site is unit-tested against known electrical engineering references. All source calculation logic lives in a single file and is publicly auditable in spirit: nothing is hidden behind a paywall or a mandatory sign-up.
